    Figure B

Create papier-mache pockets to hold flowers, gifts or other small groupings. Artist Tracey McBride demonstrates.

    3" round Jiffy Pots (TM)
    Water-based paint
    2 small clean paintbrushes
    Decoupage glue
Scraps of tissue paper, giftwrap or paper napkins with vintage-style designs of your choice
    Paper hole punch and scissors
    Wired ribbon
    Moss or excelsior (optional)

    1. Cover work surface and select motif or paper that will be used to cover pockets.

    2. Use paper punch to make two holes on either side of the Jiffy Pot.

    3. Paint inside of pockets first, then outside. (If covering entire surface with paper, leave inside unpainted.) Allow to dry 20 to 30 minutes.

    4. Use clean paintbrush to apply decoupage medium to the back of paper design (figure A), then to the outside of the pot.

    5. Press paper over glue and brush gently into place (figure B) with paintbrush, smoothing creases on the paper. Repeat as necessary. Allow to dry thoroughly (about 2 to 3 hours).

    6. Thread wire or ribbon through holes to create handle. If desired, line inside of pocket with moss or excelsior and fill with gifts or decorative items as desired.
