Give an old dresser a new lease on life by turning it into a sofa table.
|
Nancy Golden, host of DIY's Decorating and Design, gives a brief overview of a project in which an old dresser is remodeled into a sofa table. - Remove the bottom (and middle, if any) drawers from the dresser.
- With a jigsaw cut through and remove the face frame.
- Unscrew and remove the drawer guides.
- Cut plywood pieces to fit inside the bottom and the back of the cabinet and screw in place. (Countersink the screws to keep them from showing. Then fill in the holes with wood putty.)
- Use painter's caulk to finish off all the open seams so they will accept paint. Fill in and/or sand the surface as necessary.
- Paint as desired (enamel paint gives a nice, shiny finish).
