Dress up a small foyer with a simple but dramatic wall shelf made from decorative corbels and glass shelving.

Nancy Golden, host of DIY's Decorating and Design, shows how to make a foyer wall shelf out of two corbels and a piece of glass shelving.

    Materials:

    Wood or plastic corbels
    Glass shelf
    Protective discs

    1. Decide how high on the wall you want to place the shelf (a good average height is 36").

    2. Attach the corbels to the wall according to the type of hardware supplied. They should be attached to studs for security. (Note: If your walls are drywall and there is no stud into which you can anchor the hardware, you will need to use toggle bolts.)

    3. Adhere clear plastic or rubber discs to the tops of the corbels to keep the glass from slipping.

    4. Lay the glass across the corbels and accessorize as you wish.
