Homeowner Ren Leftwich expresses her philosophy by decorating with words that convey her views, giving her home a sense of warmth and whimsy.

Ren gets her inspiration for lettering pillows, picture frames and wall hangings from books, napkins and meaningful things she hears. She decorates her home with the things she loves and feels that nothing is a mistake.

Her favorite expression is "We love the things we love for what they are. You are what I love." She rubber-stamped, stenciled and lettered those words onto a pillow that rests on an overstuffed chair in her living room (figure A).

Another pillow bears the expression "Beauty really has to do with the way a person carries it off." Ren lettered it on a cocktail napkin and stitched it to a pillow she loved (figure B).

Ren's eclectic mix of furniture, picture frames, wall sculptures and boxes is charming. The sofa is piled with warm and inviting pillows (figure C). Pictures in lettered frames grace the table nearby (figure D).

To set the mood for the dining room, Ren stenciled these words in gold paint around the archway: "There are people everywhere waiting always for less than happens every time you smile" (figure E). Even the dining table is set with whimsical place-cards (figure F).
