Tile can be purely decorative as well as functional. DIY Decorating & Design host Nancy Golden uses an attractive tile in an unusual way, by turning it into a clock.

    Materials:

    Tile
    Clock-movement kit
    Drill
    Glass and tile bit
    Safety glasses

    1. A clock-movement kit comes with all the necessary elements for turning almost anything into a clock (figure A). Choose one with a shaft length appropriate for the thickness of the tile (figure B).

    2. Put on safety glasses. Using a glass and tile bit, drill a hole through the tile to accommodate the shaft of the clock movement (figure C).

    3. Insert the shaft of the clock movement into the tile from the back (figure D), and assemble the clock face on the front.
