    Tips:

    • Taller plants at the corners of your house will help anchor it with the landscape. Shorter plants near your home's entry bring attention to your front door.

    • Long and low houses look best with colors that emphasize vertical elements such as doors and shutters, while tall and narrow homes should contrast horizontal elements like fascias and gutters.

    • To improve curb appeal, visually inspect your windows from the street and remove any visible clutter such as knickknacks and stickers that detract from the beauty of your home.

    • Cloth adhesive tape applied to the bottom of your rocking chair will protect your floor from scratches.

    • Abrasive sheet materials like sandpaper and sanding belts don't hold up well in humid environments. If your shop doesn't have a dehumidifier, consider storing abrasives in sealed storage bags or containers.

    • To remove vinyl-flooring tiles, lay out a clean rag and apply a hot iron to loosen the adhesive. The longer you wait, the easier it will be, and in a couple of minutes the tile will come up with no trouble at all.
