If completed tray will be used for serving food, rather than for display, any paint used should be dishwasher safe and nontoxic.

Stenciling adds a personal touch to a ceramic serving tray.

    Materials:

    Ceramic tray
    Ceramic paint
    Lettered stencils
    Stencil adhesive spray
    Stencil brush

    1. Apply adhesive spray to back of stencil and press stencil firmly on tray.

    2. Use brush to daub paint into stencil.

    3. Lift corner of stencil and carefully peel away from tray. Wait for first stencil to dry before repeating technique.
