RVing without an awning can be a drag, but most owners find installing one themselves a bit daunting. Host Gary Bunzer takes Rick Cochrane through the pre-planning stages and shows him how to use a rivet gun--as well as how to care for the awning once it's in place.

Materials:polish for Airstream by Perfect Polish polish by Nuvite Chemical Compounds Corporation polyurethane sealant Zip Dee Awning custom Airstream cover by ADCO Products, Inc. Tools: polishing brush by Cyclo Toolmakers, Inc drill and drill bits screwdriver wrench sealant gun Installing the Awning - Make sure you have all parts in the kit (figure A) before you begin the installation.
- Install the mounting bracket in line with the rivets to ensure that you are drilling into something structural for support. Be sure to mark the drilling points first.
- Drill holes for mounting bracket.
- Seal the holes with polyurethane sealant to prevent future leaks.
- Finish mounting the clamps (figure B).
- Connect awning roller assembly to the hardware (figure C).
- Connect awning to awning rail using flex key assembly.
- Put tension on rear spring by winding the tension spring based on length of awning.
